DANCE AND MOVEMENT PSYCHOTHERAPY (DMP)
What is DMP?
Dance and Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) is an integrated Arts Therapy. It is for those clients looking for a different way of expressing or communicating their needs.
The modality lends itself to many different ways of working and the approach taken is person-centred.
It is not just for children and young people either it has benefits across all age groups and individual clients will get something different from the therapy depending on their own unique needs.
Take Flight Movement Therapy
My name is Marie a registered Dance and Movement Psychotherapist (DMP) and member of ADMP UK (Association of Dance Movement Psychotherapists), based in the Nottinghamshire area.
DMP for me is a very beautiful way of working therapuetically. It allows a person to connect with themselves through different creative tools. Allowing self discovery, expression and most importantly a safe place in which to explore their needs.
Coming from a teaching background in the performing arts, I have observed and experienced how arts can aid healing. Choose your own path and take flight with me at your side, supporting your needs all the way.
With You Every Step of the Way
Encouraging self-care and promoting well-being is the ultimate goal in any therapy. That's why the therapy has the individaul client or clients in mind and the support is there to aid finding the grounding needed in order to feel whole and stay focused for the future.
A Happier, Healthier You
In individual therapay the sessions are built on your needs. Together we can find grounding and focus back to the self. Create individualised strategies for helping you cope with daily life stresses and keep you in the here and now.
Suitable for anyone not wanting to be in a group and wants the focus to be with them. Encouraging self discovery, focus and grounding in the present for an overall mind, body experience.
Together anything can be acheived
DMP lends itself greatly to group therapy. It promotes social inclusion, pier support as well as, the knowledge that one is not alone.
It can be beneficial to elderly groups such as, Dementia for example and fantastic for those younger groups in schools or colleges.

Discover and grow
Growing up is a hard task everyone can relate to. Today Children and young people are facing all kinds of life experiences. Some of these experiences can be difficult to deal with and therapy can offer a safe, non-judgemental place for expressing the inner struggles a child or young person can feel afraid to voice.
This therapy works well for relieving exam stress, anxiety, special educational needs and more.
Building happy memories
Being in care can have a large inpact on a person from feeling as though they have lost their independence to feeling weak and embarrassed. Therapy that creates a fun and accepting environment for residents can give confidence, promote social inclusion and help a person realise they are not alone.
Looking after your workforce
Whether its relieving stress and anxiety or motivating your employee's there is something special about looking after your work force.
Therapy relieves the stress and anxiety employee's can often be faced with. As the saying goes a problem shared is a problem halved and often employee's can feel embarrassed or afraid to express their needs, having someone impartial to talk to in confidence is essential.
